NOTE: Because images and style sheets are contained on the SIUC Web server, the template page may appear different in your HTML editor than it will in a browser. As long as the links are left "as is" your pages will be fine when viewed in a browser with a network connection.
Unzip the template and save it to a handy location where you will be working on your HTML pages.
Open the template in your favorite HTML editor.
Replace the words "Enter your content here" with the text and images from your page. Procedures vary from software to software, but you can frequently copy and paste directly from one page to another with no trouble.
When you are done do a "save as" rather than a "save" in order to preserve the original template. If you loose the original, the template will always be available on the Media and Communication Resources Web site.
We ask all administrative, college, department and academic units to update their main home page (one page) to the new SIUC Web template on February 16th, 2004.
If possible, please do not publish any "production" pages to the web prior to February 16th, 2004.
A Last Updated date is required. In the footer of the template, there is a javascript that will insert the date for you.
Contact information is required. Please change the "comments: webmaster" link to appropriate contact information for your pages.
You may remove the "Salukis" logo and link and replace it with your department's name or logo. Please keep the image height no greater than 80 pixels.
Please do not rearrange the buttons on the bars. If you make any additions, please place them to the right of current links.
You may remove the search box form the bottom red bar.
You may and add your own buttons to the bottom red bar.
You may add your own buttons to the top red bar.
